James Roy Award
The James V. Roy award was established in December 1995 when Jim Roy, in the interest of raising the standards of aviation art in America, presented a handsome gift to ASAA for the purpose of establishing a special award fund. The proceeds of the fund were to provide an annual monetary award to the ASAA member deemed to have created the finest entry in the annual ASAA juried exhibition.

Jim Roy was a WW II Martin B-26 pilot in Europe, an author, a very successful manufacturers representative, and a collector of fine art. Jim had joined ASAA as an Associate Member, but died not long after his gift to ASAA. He is survived by his wife Betty who continues to live in their historic Califon, NJ home.

The Captain Duane Whitney Martin,
 Vietnam Award

The Duane Whitney Martin Award is presented annually to the artist who best depicts a scene relating to the war in Vietnam. The award, a plaque and a check for $500.00, is made by ASAA Past President Jack Fellows in honor of his cousin, Captain Duane Whitney Martin, USAF. Captain Martin was shot down while flying as co-pilot of an HH-43B “Huskie” helicopter on a search and rescue mission. He escaped from captivity in Laos, but was murdered there in 1967.
