The
2008 ASAA Forum will be held at the Seattle Museum of Flight in
Seattle, Washington, from June 16th through June 21st. Opening
concurrently with the Forum is the 22nd ASAA International Aerospace
Art Exhibit, which will show through September 14th in the museum's
Great Gallery. Featured Opening Reception speaker Erik Lindberg will
lead off the weeks events, which will feature a full course of
academic classes and lectures.
ASAA's own Robert McCall, Keith Ferris and William Phillips will
join Erik Lindberg in speaking to us about the inspiration behind
their many works of art, whether for NASA, Air Force Art, the U.S.
Postal Service or the lore and lure of aviation, past, present or
future.
ASAA members Steve Anderson, Russell Smith and Tom Kalina will
present programs that highlight each artist's unique methods of
creating their art - the research, composition, photography,
lighting, style and technique.
Noted artist and writer Juliette Aristides will speak about the
importance of traditional methods of drawing and craftsmanship as a
foundation for creating great works of art.
Noted writers, and former Aero Brush editors Ann and Charlie Cooper
will give us a guided tour of the process of writing and producing
an aviation art book, as they've done for members Andy Whyte, Jack
Fellows, Bill Phillips and Sharon Rajnus.
We'll also be given an intimate look at Seattle's beautiful Museum
of Flight, including their restoration facility, as well as a ground
floor look at a Boeing assembly plant. The Forum will also coincide
with the arrival on Saturday, the 21st, of the Collings Foundation
B-17, B-24 and B-25 at the museum.
We hope that you will join us in June at one of the nation's centers
of aviation, Seattle, Washington as we gather for a week of aviation
and art at the Museum of Flight.
