Sunday, May 10th Exhibition installation. If you are in town early, come to the museum to help install the art in the Art Gallery at the Museum. It’s a great way to get a sneak-peek at the exhibition before it opens, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to pal around with your fellow early birds. Installation begins at 10:00 AM.

Monday, May 11th  Registration for the forum begins at the hotel at noon. Come check-in, receive your welcome bag, and mingle with the other artists in the hospitality area (bar may or may not be open) or get a sneak preview of the art exhibition next door.

Tuesday May 12th Museum Day: We will spend the morning viewing the art exhibition and touring the museum, including the Chapel of the Fallen Eagles. In the evening the Mighty Eighth will throw an opening reception in our honor, to which the public is invited.

Wednesday May 13th Academics: We will be pleased to hear from ASAA Founder Keith Ferris; ASAA Founder's Chairs Paul Rendel and John Clark; and ASAA members Don Malko, Russell Smith, Ardell Bourgeois as they give their various presentations. There will also be a special presentation on Johannes Vermeer, researching and debating the mystery behind the photographic technique of his much beloved paintings.

Thursday, May 14th Drawing and Painting Day: We will spend the entire day in and around the museum drawing and painting. Odorless paint thinner will be provided. Please provide your own materials and drop cloths. All work produced on site will be eligible for judging for the Matt Jefferies Award to be presented at the awards banquet.

Friday, May 15th Academics and Awards Banquet: The day will begin with presentations by ASAA members Mark Pestana and Hank Caruso. There will also be a tutorial by Kristin Hill on the interactive portion of the new ASAA website which includes an online bulletin and the ability to share and discuss art with members through the web. Our business practices portion of the forum will include guest presenters Brad Holland and Cynthia Turner of the American Society of Illustrators Partnership who will discuss copyright laws and how to protect your art.

The Awards Banquet is on FRIDAY NIGHT this year, so please plan for this event. It will be held at the Mighty Eighth. We are honored to have founders chair Gil Cohen as our keynote speaker. He will speak about his 8th Air Force artwork. This will be a night to remember. Please make plans to stay for this wonderful event.

Saturday, May 16th  Gulfstream Tour, Youth Art Class, slide critique, and fun day for ASAA. We are working on securing a tour of the aircraft manufacturing facility, Gulfstream. We are trying to ensure this does not conflict with the Youth Art Class or the slide critique so no ASAA members will be left out of the tour. With the city of Savannah being a wonderful tourist attraction, there will also be a trip downtown for some unique sightseeing. Finally, we will have a fun night in the Hospitality room for all the ASAA who stick around!

Other Favorites: Ye Bird and Star, ASAA family reunion, business dinner, Opening Reception, unjuried work on display, and ducks. Lots of ducks.
