Fernando has been interested in aviation
his whole life. He is a sailplane and private pilot. In 1971 he graduated from
Needham High School, Massachusetts, as a foreign exchange student. After
returning to Spain, he became a lawyer and completed his military service in the
juridical corps of the Spanish Air Force. He had been drawing and painting since
he can recall, but his true art vocation surfaced about twenty years ago. Ever
since, he has been painting only aeronautical themes. He has held many one-man
exhibitions devoted exclusively to Aviation, winning both 1st and 2nd prices at
the Spanish Air Force Art Contest. He has painted Spanish Civil War scenes
that have led to limited edition prints signed by such important pilots as
General Adolf Galland and Colonel Jose Marķa Bravo (top living Republican ace
from the Civil War). He cooperates with Madrid based Infante de Orleans
Foundation, that is dedicated to preserving and flying old airplanes in Spain.
He paints mainly in acrylics and his work can be found in public and private
collections in Spain and the U.S.A. He is an ASAA Artist Fellow. His aim is to
promote aviation art, making his paintings attractive to people who are not
familiar with this topic. In order to achieve this, he is composing his latest
works with more or less classical renditions of aeronautical subjects along with
textures and less orthodox light and color techniques
